So What is the Internal Family Systems Model?

IFS help you to understand Your Inner “Parts”: Identify protectors (e.g., inner critic, people-pleaser) and exiled emotions. It helps you to discover and heal those diverse parts within you.  Imagine achieving inner peace by understanding and harmonizing these internal parts—this is the essence of IFS. Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, IFS goes beyond traditional therapy, offering a way to unburden traumatized parts: so you can release old pain stored in your body and psyche.

At its core, IFS operates on the belief that our mind is naturally multiple, and that this multiplicity is not only normal but also beneficial. Each of us has a core Self that is wise, calm, and compassionate. However, life experiences can cause other parts to take on burdens, leading to internal conflict and distress. The therapy model provides a structured way to connect with these parts, release their burdens, and restore your core Self to its rightful leadership role.
